Second Division.
There are no schools in this Division, but there is great need of two - one at Bowling Green, where, not less than sixty (60) scholars would attend - another at Port Royal with like number. No buildings suitable for schools can be had at either of these places at present.
Third Division.
There are two schools in this Division, one at Tappahannock, taught by a colored man - 14 scholars - and one at Centre Cross by a white Teacher - 19 scholars. The Houses are not suitable at either of these places. Could suitable Teachers and buildings be obtained a large number of scholars (about 75 at Tappahannock and 60 at Centre Cross) would attend. At Centre Cross a lot of ground has been obtained whereon to build a house, and the building commenced. I most respectfully recommend that one hundred (100) Dollars be appropriated to assist the finishing of the building at this place. There are several other localities in this Division where schools are needed. Viz Essex Co. - at Loyd, 50 scholars. Lorretta 25 scholars Middlesex County at Urbanna 50 scholars, Jamacia 25 scholars. Saluda 40. scholars Sandy Bottom 30 scholars. King and Queen County, - Little Plymouth 25. Centerville 25.
