Trice told him he had three cents in his pocket and he could have that. Chew then demanded an order on three different store in the neighborhood which Trice refused to give. Reuben Wright then said to Chew D-n it make him give you his due bill, Chew then demanded his due bill for that amount saying be D-n quick about it, Trice asked a Mr Thomas who was with him to write a due bill for him, Thomas said he would not, Chew then turned to the men and said, Capt, make the men load their guns, and if they have not powder and shot to go in the house and get it, Trice then wrote the due bill and handed it to Thomas to give them, They looked at it and made Thomas read it, they demanded an old gun that was left at Trices, Trice handed it out to them, They then left taking all the hands with them, Whooping and shouting.

Two men named Thomas, who were with Trice at the time were examined, both corroborated the statement of Trice. Sam Benjamin Col. also testified, That he was after feeding and was coming towards the house, when they saw him they chased him saying they would have him or his head, They made him "fall in" and brought him and the rest of the hands to the meeting.

A Mr. Dyson testified, that John Chew came to his house with a due bill of Trice's (due bill produced & recognized) and wanted to get some corn on it. Chew already owed Dyson for one bushel of corn. Dyson gave him the one (or two) bushels more. Chew wanted to get the full worth of the due bill, but Dyson would not give it until he saw Trice, and if Trice said so he would let him have corn for the amount
