To Gen'l O. Brown, Commissioner for Virginia.
Your petitioners John C. King, Mary E. King and Laura F. Finch who was Laura F. King (whose Husband died many years ago, [[?]] in 1855, would respectfully represent that they are the only children and heirs at law of Mrs Eliza King, who departed this life in the month of April - 1866. That she in her life time was possessed of a lot in the town of Hampton bounded as follows on the South by Queen Street, on the west by the lot of Benjamin Phillips, on the East by the lot of -  Powell, and on the North by the land of I. B. Sinclair, that said lot is now held by the Freedmens Bureau.  

That your petitioners have taken the oath as prescribed by the Amnesty Proclamation of May 29th AD 1865-and that neither of them are enbraced within any of the excepted classes; that no proceedings have been instituted against said property. Your petitioners would represent that this lot is nearly all the property they have. That whilst it is desirable they should be enabled to obtain possession as early as they can. They are willing the Freedmen now on the premisis, should remain the year, on the payment of a reasonable rent, which they are now paying. They would ask the restoration of the said lot.
