In my Report of Nov 30th pursuant to Circular No 6, C.S. Hd Qrs Asst Comr St of Va, I took occasion to call attention to the case of a Crazy Colored woman, "Mary" by name, who has been confined in the jail at this place going on two years. The sheriff says he has endeavored to get her admitted to the Asylum at Williamsburg and Stanton, but they are too full to receive her. A Brother of hers, I have been told, once agreed to assume charge of her, but the lady for whom he was at work, her former Mistress "Mrs Toney" was afraid to have her on her land. She is very violent at times and consequently has to be securely kept. I have understood that she once escaped from the custody of
