done, on his arrival. He Lacenberry fell on him and commenced to beat him. The boy in defending himself struck Lacenberry on the head with an axe. leaving a severe wound. The boy ran home and tole his father what had happened. He immediately repaired. with his son to the place and assisted him to His home. No one being present Lacenberry saith that the boy attacked him and had him arrested and bound over to make his appearance before the grand jury. Which body found a true bill against him. for an attacked with the intent to kill. The boy was tried by the last superior Court and found Guilty and sentenced to two years hard labor in the penitentiary. On no other evidence except Lacenberry. there being no one present at the time except the two, It is far more reasonable to suppose that the attacked was made as above stated, instead as stated by Lacenberry. I respectfully request that the Asst Commissioner may use his influence with his excellency Gov" Pierpont to have the said Samuel Robison released. On the ground that the boy was acting in self defence. and had the case been reversed, the white man would have certainly been acquited,-

Very Respectfully
Your obt Servant
