A. On a Wednesday morning in August.

Q. Do you know anything about the difficulty between Sam Robinson & Mr. Larenby; if so state it?
A. I never saw anything of the last fight, I saw Larenby whip him on Wednesday the day before the fracas.
The first fight Larenby whipped him about a half hour, there was about a half hour between the two fights I saw. Larenby quit him, left him laying there & went off to the woods - pretty quick he appeared back with a stick & says "Sam, I have not whipped you half enough." Sam set into begging him. Then he begged him for every lick he struck him and he hit him for twenty or twenty five licks as hard as he could draw with that stick. Sam was begging him all the time to let him go home. He says no "I intend to keep you here & work you or I'll give you a killing" That is all I know about that fight but I saw him Larenby after he was hurt with an ax. I saw him two days from the morning he was struck. He asked me if I saw the fight on Wednesday eve: I told him I did. He asked me if I saw him beat him, Sam. I told him I saw him whip him Sam and
