Wyatt Wheeler warranted John Cothrane for his horse - before eary J. Brown - The Magistrat - Wyatt Wheeler proved his horse - John Cotheran admitted that Wyatt Wheeler left the horse with him - A week after Gen. Lee's surrender the horse is about six years old - and Cothran says is worth [[?]] 60 - or 70 dollars - the magistrate gave The case against Wheeler - Because Mr. Hix of Appomattox gave John Cotherane an Order to get some mules and horses to pay him self for his horses - - taken from him - Cotherane showed no order but said he had an order but did not say this order embraced his horse - or named his horse - Yet the justice would give my horse to Cotherane the magistrate saying, Negroes were not free at that time and could not hold property - and other remarks - he made which showed he did not mean I should have my horse - now if you can remedy this [[?]] decision, I want you to do it -
