that they would have been severely punished both by the civil authorities and those of the college. 
Expulsion is the extreme penalty which can be inflicted by the Faculty and as you will find from their communication which is herewith transmitted and also from the letter of Genl Lee this was their action in the case of McNeill. 
The faculty forwarded to the teachers of the school a written communication in which they expressed deep regret for the occurrences and their willingness to aid in the prevention of any similar occurrence in the future.
Genl Lee's reference to McNeill not having been reinstated was occasioned by a rumor that said student had returned to college to which I had called his attention in my communication to which his was an answer.
I do not expect a recurrence of a similar trouble, nor do I believe it is anticipated by anyone, the school teachers inclusive. The measures adopted by the civil and college authorities have had a wholesome effect upon the students.
