complaints reach the Bureau

The Registry of Botetourt County is complete and unfinished in Bedford I heard of no suffering The cause of Education seems to be more flourishing here than elsewhere in my District The long established schools of Liberty Fincastle and Buchannan are doing quite as well as at any former period while in various rural places small schools are in operation

Captain Shaum's records and papers are in fair condition and I can note no cause for complaint in his administration of Bureau affairs x
