Yesterday, the freedman named being in a Store here, and having the Flag, just completed, with him, the accused coming in desired to know what it meant; and on being told he damned the Flag; saying that he would like to see it, and whoever attempted to make such a thing, landed in hell; and if any one should ever offer to raise it over him, he would send them there damned quick; or words to that effect. 

A great many minor circumstances have led me to believe that my action in this matter was, to say the least, but simply judicious, as tending to obviate further difficulty, in other quarters.

The papers concerning the case will be forwarded by the same mail which takes this, to the proper authorities for final action.
