hand, willfully, deliberately, feloniously and of his malice afore-thought, did shoot one Thomas Patterson then and there, to maim disfigure disable and kill against the peace and dignity of the commonwealth of Virginia. At another day to wit: At a Quarterly Court continued and held for Bedford County at the court-house on Tuesday the 23rd of July 1867. Rob Holmes a colored person who stands indicted of malicious shooting, was set to the bar in custody of the sheriff of this county and being thereof arraigned, pleaded not guilty, and the Sheriff having made return on the venire facias, awarded for the trial of the said Rob Holmes, the following persons were selected a jury, according to law for the trial to wit: Alexander L. Stennett, Abner H. Franklin, William Turner, George M. A. Walker, Joel L. Hensley, John M. Whorley, Moses P. Rueker, John Fisher, Joseph A. Crowder, Robt Chapman, William E. Salmons, and Davis E. Thompson, and therefore by consent, the said jury are adjourned until to morrow morning at ten oclock, and the said Rob Holmes is remanded to jail.

At another day to wit: at a quarterly Court Comd held for Bedford County at the Courthouse on Wednesday, the 24th day of July 1867.
