time got from off the fence and ran off into a field lying on the road about a hundred yards the prisoner upon recognized Rob Roy & came back to the road and asked him if Patterson was dead, to which Rob" Roy replied that he supposed not as he could not be going for the Physician if her were. The prisoner then remarked that he would show him (Patterson) what it was to get between a man and his wife, and that if he (Patterson) was not that he would go home, prepare himself, and come back and fix him. Rob Roy then asked him the prisoner why it was that he had shot Patterson, to which the prisoner replied that he had done so because Patterson had before got between him and his wife (the prisoners') wife, and that "now" it was the case again. The process was taken out by Pattersons' friends for the arrest of the prisoner, on the same day of the shooting, but no arrest was made on that day, [[strikethrough]] (Sunday) and [[/strikethrough]] but that pursuit for him was made all day Sunday and nearly all Sunday night, that on the morning following the shooting the prisoner voluntarily delivered himself up to the military authorities at Liberty and this the, prisoners' bill of exceptions is signed sealed and enrolled by the court, and made part of the record.
