men. I learned of two good schools in Nelson county; one at Lovingston and one eight or ten miles therefrom. Both are now having vacation. As far as I could learn by conversation and inquiry had with freed-persons and white men, the public feeling about Nelson county is favorable to the education of the colored people.

In all these places - Culpepper C.H., Orange C.H., Charlottsville and Lovingston,- Sabbath schools are held among the freedmen, as I learned, and the freedmen are, for the most part, industrious and thrifty, cultivating, as far as possible, all those things that elevate and bless us.
