In compliance with letter from Hd. Qrs. Asst. Com. Dist. of Virginia, dated Sept. 18th 1867. directing the discharge of one clerk, three messengers, and our watchman from duty in this Sub. Dist, I have the honor to report the following as the names of the employ is selected for discharge, viz

R.D. Beckley Clerk in employment office at Alexa
James Dudley Messenger Hd. Qrs. S.A. Comm. at Alexa
John W. Galleher Messenger Office ASA Com'r at Leesburg Va
Jefferson Elliott Night Watchman at Stable Alexa. Va
There are only two messengers now on duty in this Sub Dist one having been discharged August 31st
As it is absolutely necessary that the places made vacant by the discharge of James Dudley, messenger at these Hd Qrs and Jefferson Elliott Night watchman at the Stables, should be filled, I have conferred with Major J. Stewart, Commanding Sub Dist of Alexandria, who informed me that a detail of two men (whose names he is now unable to furnish) will be made from the garrison at Fort Whipple in this county, to supply their places upon receipt of the proper order.
