and were taking him to the Court House, when four other federal Soldiers claiming to be Mosby's men, arrested Brown, and the man of doubtful character and came back to my house, with this same horse, and sold him to Alexander Jones, who was in my employment for, that year. Mr Wm A. Jones, then traded Alex and a milch cow for the horse. A short time after that Mr. Jones Became dissatisfied and dilivered the horse back to me. I loaned the horse then to Mr. Sam Harris to ride to Mechlin Berg, Mr. Jones loaned Mr. Harris an other horse and took this and then delivered this horse to Capt. Giser who was P.M. at the Court House. I have frequently seen the horse, since, in the possession of Mr. John Webb, Mr. Gisers Brother in law.

Wm A. Jones (White) being duly sworn, &c. I traded with Alexander Jones as he had stated Capt Giser sent three times for the horse, The other one I got from Alexanders father Abraham, he brot it to me, and Capt Philps. gave me the order to hold. I have Capt. Gisers receipt for the horse. I lost (7) Seven horses and picked up (6) Six this one was one of the Six (6) I got. I have. (4) four mules now (Govt)

I know nothing about the case, except that I issued an order that the horse be turned over to me. The horse in question is now in the possession of Abram A. Webb I turned over the horse to wife Marnie Webb (My present wife).
