You will deliver to Alex Jones. (Cold) the horse now in your possession; which was purchased from some Federal Soldier, by A. Jones, (Cold), & Traded to Wm. A. Jones, Esq. (his late master) & taken from said Wm. A Jones, by order of Capt James Giser, late Provost Marshal, & by him turned over to Miss Nannie Webb, now Mrs. Giser. 

Where freedmen purchased, had given them by US Soldiers, or picked up on the battle field, horses, or other US property, they are recognized as being entitled to possession until called upon to turn in the same, to the proper Military Authorities
