Sir,

Your letter of the 29th Oct is this moment rec'd making enquiries in relation to the rights of the children of a certain George Parker (colored) and requiring an answer forthwith setting forth all the facts of the case 

In reply I have to say that in July 1861 I was appointed guardian of the children of Lucy Honell (Parkers wife) by the county court of Powhatan and qualified according to law.  That I rented the land belonging to the children (Ten acres) for the balance of the year 1861 to Shepard Bently (cold) for $12 00/100 that I sold the crop of corn then growing on the land to Shepard Bently at auction for $16 25/100  That I again rented the land to Shepard Bently for the year 1862 for $24 00/100 and again rented the land to the said Bently for the year 1863 for $50, and again rented the land to the said Bently for the year
