Genl:-

I have the honor to forward the following statement of Thos. Menifee of Rappahannock Co. Va. to the effect that his brother Minor Menifee cold. was shot and killed by a man named Robert Eastham, who after a quasi trial before the County Court was acquitted.  Eastham has threatened Thos. Menifee's life if he made any movement toward bringing him to justice.  he wants the interference of the military authorities to have Eastham brought to justice. 

"Thos. Menifee cold. States 'Miner Menifee was at work for Robert Eastham, and rented from him a house in which his wife lived, Eastham got angry at Menifee's wife and ordered her off his place, Miner said 'if she could not stay, he could not; as as he had no written contract, he was going to look for another place to work".  Eastham said 'if he did not work for him; he should not work for anyone;' and said he would make him travel a dark road.

Menifee had had a horse of his own, which he had been using on Eastham's work for his feed, which he took
