11. Amount which would probably be raised by the Freedmen, for school purposes, in each destitute  neighborhood? nothing at present can be raise for school purposes in this county: great scarcity of provisions with no capital or credit in the community: wages low and poor demand

12. What efforts are you making to secure the support of schools by pupils, parents, boards of education, or the State government? I am constantly co operating with the Board of Trustees at Pine Bluff; the teachers in charge of the schools, and embracing every opportunity to talk with the parents of the importance of schools

13. Whole number of additional School-houses for Freedmen, now wanted in your Sub-District? This question cannot now be answered owing to the financial embarrassment of the county & unsettled state of the freedmen 

14. Could you organize your Sub-District into School Districts, each with a School Committee pledged to carry on schools therein? Can in a month or two when the freedmen are more permanently located for the year,

15. To what extent would help from without be needed in such cases? Cannot tell at present,

16. What is the public sentiment as to the education of the Freedmen and Poor Whites? Strong opposition on the part of the majority of the resident whites.

17. Are Night-Schools for Adults needed in your District? Yes In what way could they be carried on? By having teachers at Pine Bluff and on the larger plantations organize schools; but the teachers would have to be paid by government or by the association that sends them. for reasons stated in No 13

18. What more can this Bureau do for educating the children of Refugees (or Poor Whites)? There are very few poor whites in my district, and they are very much scattered.

19. How long will Northern charitable aid be needed for Freedmen and Refugee Schools in your District? Schools cannot well be self sustaining in this county for [[strikethrough]] for at least two years [[/strikethrough]] sometime to come, and then much will depend upon the harvests and the powers that be,
