This Deed made his 12th day of October in the year eighteen hundred and fifty nine between William J Messick and Alice his wife of the City of Norfolk of the one part and John F Francis John P Biddle and F F. Ferguson Trustees of the Norfolk Building Fund Association of the said City of the other part.  Whereas William J Messick did on the 8th day of October in the year 1859 receive an advance from the said The Norfolk Building Fund Association of the sum of five hundred and twenty dollars and did execute therefor to the said The Norfolk Building Fund Association his bond of even date herewith in the penal sum of One thousand and forty dollars with condition in the following words and figures to wit; The Condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas the the above bound William J Messick is a subscriber for ten share of the stock of the above named The Norfolk Building Fund Association and did on the 8th day of October in the year 1859, receive an advance or loan from the said The Norfolk Building Fund Association of the sum of five hundred and twenty dollars for the redemption by the said Norfolk Building Fund Association in the manner provided by the constitution and by laws of the said Norfolk Building Fund Association or any amendment thereto all monthly dews on the said four shares of the stock redeemed, and also the interest monthly at the rates of six per centum per annum upon the said sum of five hundred and twenty dollars advanced and also the fines and charges if any that may be assessed against him the said William J Messick on the said four shares rendered, then the above obligation shall be void but otherwise it shall remain in full force and virtue "And whereas the said William J Messick desires hereby to give further security for the performance of the condition of his said bond and for his compliance with the other terms of his the said William J Merrick with the said The Norfolk Building Fund Association.  Now therefore this Deed Witnesseth, that in consideration of the premises
