time not only well satisfied on the childrens account but had accepted Mr. Trevillians kind offer to her that she should stay with him as long as she lived, that her Son was not able to Support her, and he would see her well taken care of for her past services. Some six months after this the grandmother & both children were missing from the residence and no one knew any dissatisfaction which should cause the same. The children were found in the possession of a Second Cousins of theirs by the name of Gordon, living in a miserable hovel on Butchers Flat Richmond Va. One of the children had been hired out to mind cows at fifty cents per week. (It is conjectured that this cousin Gordon intended hiring out these children to work in a tobacco factory at which business he works himself.

I am thoroughly of the conviction that these children have not been ill treated.

Very respectfully
