I have the honor to report the case of Leonard Wolf a loyal white person living at Warrenton Junction Va.

His statement is as follows "I am a native of Penn came to Warrenton Junction in July 1865 was employed by the O & A RR. I built me a cabin about 400 yds from the depot and lived there alone.

After the road was turned over to the present company I was thrown out of employment and commenced the business of gathering bones & old Iron and selling them in Alexandria from which I derived a living. I continued in this occupation until the 24th of Dec 1866 when an attempt was made to burn down my house while I was asleep in it. I had reason to believe it was a colored man named Samuel Pollard who was instigated to do it by Gouldy Shomate (the station agents son) and Samuel Lomax & others. I went to Esq Stone to procure a warrant but he claimed that as he had no constable in the District he had no power to act and advised me to go to Warrenton Va I did so and procured the
