I expected three Distinct inditements would have been made out against the leader when I give my report to the grand jury onoath. but only one was rendered combined with his brother. they ware formerly rebbel soldier, I suppose thir thierst was for inocent blood. which was Drawn vary prefusely drawd from my head, which I get feel the smart, my being advanced in years & other way afflicted could make no Defence. thoughs they would attack the weakest post, one of the parties J E R told the state before the case was cald up for trial I had five witness duly summon for the commandant but only one attended. the call was not recled I think., I would be glad for your attention in the mater in any way you think best. I certainly feel agriavd & much mortified at the desertion of the cival court in the case I would be glad to receive some appointment which would proffit me in some way for I have been brought to poverty. Distres by the U.S.A. during the rebellion from a successfull mirchant & mechanic from what I furnish the army & what was prep & dischargd cold &c who did not leave me one Dollar of support
