Bureau R. F. & A L.
Off. A. S. A. C./"Div 4" S. dist. Va.
Gordonsville, Va. July 20" 1867
General:
I have the honor to transmit the enclosed sworn statements in regard to an outrage committed by a Mr. Wm. H. Martin (White) upon Mrs. Matilda Watson (colored.) They got into an altercation in regard to a hammer in the street in front of Martin's house in this place and he became enraged at her language and proceeded to chastise her in a spirited style with stones and blows and kicks.
She will complain of him at court in Orange County and I shall endeaver to see that she has redress in a legal way.
Very Respectfully
Your Obt. Servant
