July 20" 1867 General: I have the honor to transmit the enclosed sworn statements in regard to an outrage committed by a Mr. Wm. H. Martin (White) upon Mrs. Matilda Watson (colored.) They got into an altercation in regard to a hammer in the street in front of Martin's house in this place and he became enraged at her language and proceeded to chastise her in a spirited style with stones and blows and kicks.
