Thomas Harris, col'd sworn

I was in Perkins saloon on 9th inst just after dark. There were some men, soldiers, in the bar room, a corporal was one of them, they were asking for whiskey. Perkins wouldn't sell them any, said it was against orders, he did give them some wine, the Corporal wanted to pay for the wine, the other men said he shouldn't do so, One of the men took a goblet and struck me in the forehead. I didn't see them strike Perkins. This blow knocked me on the ground then several struck me five or six times in the face. I hadn't done any thing to them or spoken a word. Maj. Hooper and Col. Booker were there. Maj. Hooper before fuss commenced and Col Jordan afterwards - I think Col. Booker the landlord was there and went after Col Jordan. I was carried in to the barber shop and the doctor (Leech) dressed my wounds.
