Col Jordan
Perkins was not knocked on the ground but was caught by a screen. Harris was knocked to the ground. I think but two blows were struck after Col Jordan went into the room, he caught two soldiers by the collar and held them apart saying this thing must be stopped -

Shortly afterwards the soldiers started out of the house. About thirty or forty negroes gathered in the street by the house and started after the soldiers. Col. Jordan advised them to stop and they did stop - They were much excited and if they had not been stopped it would have been serious. During the night the negroes were much excited hunting up soldiers. About half past eight Col. Jordan took a soldier by the collar and took him off towards camp out of sight - there was a large crowd there and I suppose the soldier would have been killed if he hadn't been taken away. I saw the patrol afterwards but no other soldiers. Abt 20 minutes after the fight in the bar room I saw the patrol. Lt Egbert did everything in his power to stop the disturbance
