Burton appeared to be trying to keep the people quiet. Fuque ran away. The next think I saw was three or four of these soldiers were attacking Burton in the middle of the street, he had left the sidewalk and they pursued him across the street. Then I saw a man who I thought was white came out of a store - as it seemed and fire a pistol, a man dropped - but this man who dropped turned out not to have been hit by the ball but by a stone.
