I saw a number of soldiers on the street that night. I took up about eleven of them on the [[?]] street [[strikethrough]] to the Camp [[/strikethrough]] and started them towards camp myself and afterwards saw several perhaps four or five in the street - I saw the Patrol about twenty minutes after I had started the last soldier to the camp. The soldiers were excited. Some of them I thought were intoxicated - There were large crowds on the streets, several of which were dispersed by Col Jordan before the Patrol came.- There were several soldiers on the street when the patrol first came. The patrol came along and took up one soldier, who was with me. Another one I took charge of myself, with the Sgt's consent

On Tuesday the Sentinel on its way to camp, with the wounded soldiers, passed the Hospital - They attention was first attracted to Parker who was bleeding. - Then I heard loud talking - then came one of the soldiers with a large stick running up the R.R. after a colored man. - The soldier was not in the patrol.- I don't know who the colored man was - I ran up to stop the soldier called to him to stop - Soldier fired the stick at colored man - Got between him and gate and prevented him going
