the gate when the patrol caught them again. One of the guard made a colored man inside the hospital ground lay down an axe handle, the guard didnt strike. I didn't see either the guard or any of the prisoners strike any one inside the hospital ground. I was inside the hospital grounds myself.

The Company was paid off on Monday last. Abt 6 or 7 men were drunk on Monday night - about the same on Tuesday morning.

None of the men who were in the fight of Monday was afterwards on Tuesday's patrol. Bow was one who was in the fight of Tuesday but afterwards a second patrol. There was a colored men arrested and taken prisoner to camp by the second patrol. He was hit by a soldier at the time of his arrest. Two of the men pointed him out and went after him, he stopped for them to come up. They brought him back, he was struck by one of the guard with a gun. He was not resisting or running. dont know which of the men struck him
