When Col Jordan came in and Ord. Serg Nichols I saw no fighting. All the soldiers went out of the house - did not go together but separately. I went in abt 20 minutes to camp and didnt come down again.

I was not in town on Tuesday morning until after the trouble was over

Am Prest. Board of Trustees, Farmville, Va. I witnessed nothing, which occurred Monday night in connection with the disturbance.- On Tuesday between 9 & 10 AM. I heard a disturbance in the street in front of my office - I went to my front window and looked out and heard an appeal made to me by Buck Fryer colored for protection - the appeal was made by Mr Fuque for protection from me, or from Col Jordan - I saw upon the street making an attack upon Fuque, five or 6 Fed Soldiers - The Soldiers were armed with canes & sticks and one with axe helve. I at once repaired to the street - approached the party of soldiers [?command?] of the Peace, and ordered them to disperse.
