William Fouqué generally called "Buck" Fouqué cold. sw-

On Tuesday morning last between nine and ten I was standing in front of my door and I was assaulted by one of the soldiers. He came up to my door and carried a stick and said "You had better keep d- cool for we intend to kill you" think there were about 8 soldiers with him, I answered "What have I done?" He said G- d- you I'll bet you know what you have done" and pushed his stick in my face. I ran out and they all rushed into my house. I ran out of my back door into the street. I had said nothing to any of them before the man first spoke. The only difficulty I ever had with any of the soldiers was on the first day they came to the town. Then some soldiers came into my house - a restaurant, and ordered something to eat which I gave to them. There were four, three paid and one wouldn't and has never yet. I went around the counter to get my pay and they took off the board from the counter and tried to strike me with it. I sent a boy for the Lieut to get the men out of my house. The Lt sent down a guard with the boy, and the guard beat the boy severely while he was guarding them. The men had left my house by the time the guard arrived there.
