My name is Jno. V. Miller. am Town Sergeant of Farmville Va. was confined to my room on Monday night with sickness  Know nothing personally of the Monday night row. - Tuesday morning. Col Jordan [[strikethrough]] informed [[/strikethrough]] notified me to detail the same policemen who were on duty on [[strikethrough]] at [[/strikethrough]] Saturday, and to instruct them to report to him immediately for instructions and also for their maces, &c. He told me that the instructions were not changed - colored policeman were take care of their own race and the white the white.- I notified Burton - Fuqua - Vaughn - Branch - Holcomb - all colored. my son was instructed to notify the white.- I was looking for the others when I recd notice from Dr Thackston Prest B of Trustees, to come up and stop the row going on in the street then - it was about 10 am. - When I reached the scene, the fight was going on between soldiers and policeman I thought 5 or 6 Sol's  and two or three colored men  I saw no fire arms and heard one report - couldnt do anything myself, I told them. I was a policeman - One soldier threatened me, but did not strike me.- It was not more than five minutes going on. Dr Thackston & Mr Gray commanded the peace - was not heeded and the row continued until Col Jordan reached the ground from one direction and the guard from the other - The guard did not seem able to control them.- and had some difficulty to get them out of
