Richmond Va Aug. 9th 1866.

states that Privates Lewis Tazal Co "A" and Mark Lunkett Co. "J" 10 Regt U.S.C.T. have reported to him for discharge and final  payment &c.

They were absent sick at City Point when Regt. recvd. final payment and their pay and discharge were given to their respective Captains for delivery.  The men claim to have not received the same &c &c, (1 Enclo.)

Official Copy respectfully referred to  Major Genl. O.O. Howard commissioner Bureau Refugees Freedmen and Abandoned Lands Washington D.C. with copies of letters from Captains J.B. Bostwick and H.M. Foote the company Commanders within referred to.  From the report of Capt. Bostwick it will be seen that the discharge and money due Private Louis Tazal of Co. "A" 10th U.S. Cold. Troops, were delivered to Capt. William P. Austin Com’r of Freedmens Affairs, at Norfolk Va. and his receipt therefor taken by Captain Bostwick:-
