Dear Sir
Your letter of Dec 21st reached me in due course of mail. Not having the papers in the case with me was unable to reply at once.

I am just in receipt of a letter from my Father, enclosing a document from F. I. Massey, Agt of Yorktown Va. forwarded through your H'd Qr's. From Mr. Massey's letter it appears that he comes to learn as such a letter was ever sent to me (as spoken of in my letter to you) by himself or "any officer in this section of the State" I can only state that such a letter was received, and in accordance with the request contained therein, I purchased a Draft on N. Y. and forwarded it to "G. W. A. Goldman care of L. E. Perrin Yorktown Va. I felt sure that the Draft would thus reach its proper destination and the right parties
