Sir

I have the honor to report further proceedings in the case of Pennie Vincent (colored) v.s. Jake Dudley (white) charged with Rape, and re-ported as taken cognizance of by the military Commissioner of said county July 31st 1867.

Parties appeared August 6th 1867, as adjourned and the Plaintiff submitted as adjourned and the Plaintiff of satisfaction submitted an acnowledgement of satisfaction in writing (a copy of which is enclosed) when further pro-ceedings were abandoned subject to the approval of the commanding officer of the Sub Dist of Fort Monroe.

The action of the military commissioner was grounded upon Par 19, Page 824 of the Code of Virginia. It was also very ev-ident to the commissioner that Plaintiff would have some difficulty in sustaining her charge, with a very bad reputation to contend against.

The case stands dismissed subject to the approval of the commanding officer of the Sub District of Fort Monroe. Dudley still under bond for his appearance if called upon

I am Sir very respectfully
Your obt servt
