Reports (that on the 10th Nov'br Henry Abernathy a freedman was severely stabbed by a Dr. Cox at Lunenburg C.H., without any cause.) Upon the freedman's complaining to Mr. Hatchell a Magistrate, Dr. Cox was summoned, and upon the preliminary examination was acquitted and discharged, and the case dismissed, "on the ground that Dr. Cox was drunk at the time he committed the deed, that he possessed no malice against the freedman and that he regretted it."
