did, on or about the 8th of October 1866 without just cause, discharge, from his service without pay the said Peter Mason, Freedman, and that he the said Geo Farrar did, on three different occasions, violently assault with a club the said Peter Mason "while he (Mason) was in the employ of Farrar during the months of July, Aug & Sept. 1866."

I remember very distinctly that this old man stated positively that Farrar assaulted him three different times, but he ("Mason") could not give me the dates. - I expect to be in possession of other information concerning this case in a day or two which, I will report, without delay.
