Office Asst. Supt F.B
Lawrencevill Va Mch 23/1867

Respectfully returned with the following information to wit: When I saw that the property of colonel Edmend Gilliam Col'd. was on the point of being sold to satisfy the judgement rendered by Samuel K. Lucy, Magistrate. in the case of Geo W. Johnson vs Edmend Gilliam, I at once wrote to Mr Lucy and also to the Pltff. (it being before I could receive my instructions from the Asst Comr) sharp letter rebuking such a flagrant prcedure & positively protesting against such intolerable injustice.

They had the desired effect of quashing the proceedings at once and nothing has been done in the matter since. The property of said Gillaim is undisturbed.
