Petersburg Va,

Major,
I have the honor to enclose herewith a bill against Chas J. Joyler of Burke Station Fairfax Co. Va, in favor of York Revis colored of Brunswick Co. for labor performed in 1866. I have written Mr. Joyler twice, direct, in regard to the account but received no reply whatever. Previous to my writing him York received a letter from him (Joyler) stating that he would soon send him the money due, but as yet he has heard nothing more. Cannot this debt be collected without York having to return to Fairfax Co. for such would be difficult for him to do.

Very Respectfully
Your obdt servt

Lt. & Asst. Sub Asst Comr

Transcription Notes:
Difficult to read - using a lot of context clues to decipher. Many times "o"s look like "e"s as in the word "money" and "more" "JR Stone" and "York Rivis (colored)" more clearly written on previous document. Unsure of spelling of name: Joyler/Taylor? ---------- Reopened for Editing 2023-11-11 19:50:13 ---------- Reopened for Editing 2023-11-11 20:21:55 ---------- Reopened for Editing 2023-11-11 22:13:53 ---------- Reopened for Editing 2023-11-12 11:43:42
