If the cost of transportation could be refunded, and his parents are anxious to have him returned, why Gen, I should certainly offer no protest against his return, but I cannot think it just for me to loose the transportation after taking every step to satisfy myself, that no cause existed why I should not contract with Ambrose.

If his being a minor is the only cause, then Col. Jordon Agt. & Supt. should have made known the fact. I presumed, that the Agt. & Supt. &c, was the only authorized individual for giving such information, and to him I applied in every instance, when I employed Freedmen.
