I suppose this Horse is now again claimed by one "Cumby" of Appomattox who claims I learn to have picked this horse: which he describes as a black horse: up & that he was taken from him by Mr Hix. I doubt this statement & even if true Mr Hix acting under orders from Genl Grant had a right to do because this Cumby lost no horse or
