anything else - for he had no horse to lose-

This Man Cumby has tried before one or two provost Marshall's to recover this horse & I learn went to the Commonwealths attorney for the County to bring suit against Mr Dickerson for the Horse & [[Isbell?]] at once advised him of the fact that he could not recover the Horse by a Civil suit

Cumby knows the horse is now in the possession of Mr Daniel Dickerson of Appomattox purchased at the sale of Mr M's property in Dec 1865 for Fifty five Dollars -

I cant see why Cumby applied to Col Jordan for redress, when he, Cumby & Mr Dickerson are both residents of Appomattox in the District of Genl Wilcox at Lynchburg
