BUREAU OF REFUGEES, FREEDMEN AND ABONDONED LANDS,
OFFICE ASST. SUP'T. SUB-DISTRICT EMBRACING
NOTTOWAY AND LUNENBURG COUNTIES, VA.
Burkeville, Va., May 13th 1867.

Capt. Garrick Mallory.
A. Asst. Adjt. Gen'l.

I have the honor to State that in an endorsement received from Hd Qrts Asst Comiss April 29th 1867, I was instructed to bind over certain parties in Lunenberg Co, charged with searching Freedmen's Houses illegally, to answer before a Military Court to be hereafter organized. Since that time I have induced the "Grand Jury" to take cognizance of the case, they have done so, and found a true bill of indictment against the parties, who will be tried by the Circuit Court next October. Thus rendering action on my part unnecessary, and unless otherwise ordered I shall not place the parties under bonds, as previously instructed.

Most Respectfully,
D. I. Connolly
Bvt Capt. U.S.V.
A. Sub. Asst Commissioner.
