Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
Head Quarters Assistant Commissioner, State of Virginia.
Richmond, Va., May 20 1867

Dear General
Two young gentlemen are asking for places in my office. There are no vacancies in the P.O. These gentlemen are out of employment in consequence of the reductions in the Departments at Washington.

Mr Page & Quantrall they are both represented to me as gentlemen and competent & efficient clerks, and worthy in consequence of past services in the army I think.

It has occurred to me that possibly you might have some place for them It will give me pleasure if you can do something for them

Very truly
Alexander Sharp
