Captain
I have the honor to submit the following report on the case of David Stott and Mr Walters.

In the month of November 1865, Mrs. Stott bound out, in the presence of three witnesses, for three years from January 1st 1866, two of her children, one to Mr. Walters and the other to Mr. Dickey under the following circumstances:

Mrs. Stott went to Mr. Walters and complained that her husband (who is a deserter from the U.S. Army) had run away and left her with six young children, to starve, Mr. Walters who is a thorough Union man, and one of the best friends to the Freedmen that they have in this County, took one of the children, and induced Mr. Dickey, his neighbor to take another rendering the mother every assistance in his power, in fact saving her and her children from starvation.
