Brief from Records office Asst Courier Petersburg Va. May 1st 1867 Bvt Maj: J. R. Stone S. a. Commr Writes on behalf of Cornelius Meade (colored), who wishes to know the whereabouts of his sister Emeline Meade and if she would come to Petersburg - supposed to be at Dalton Ga. If she consent to come, money will be sent to pay her transportation. Communes from G W Selvridge agent, dated Dalton GA May 17th 1867 - states that Caroline (or Emeline) Meade lives several miles from Dalton with a man named Fincher. Rome Ga. May 21 1867 Forwarded to the asst. Comr - by Bvt. Maj C. A. dela. Mesa. May 23, 1867 - Forwarded to Bt Maj. JR Stone & a. Commr., Petersburg Va, through Bvt. Brig Gen'l O.Brown- Asst. Commr. for his information. Richmond Va May 28th 1867 Referred to Bvt Maj -J R Stone S. A. Commr. ve by Bvt Brig. Genl O Brown Asst. Commr. Petersburg Va. Aug 5th 1867 Returned to G. W. Seldridge Agent with $25 enclosed, to pay the transportation of Emeline Meade, and, in case the amount is not sufficient, agent Seldrige will give notice of the fact before sending her Richmond Va.
