General:
I have the honor to inform you that on the 5th of August 1867 $26.00 was forwarded by me to G.W. Selridge Bureau agent at Dalton Ga. through your office, said money being for the payment of the transportation of Emaline Mead, (cold) from Dalton to this place. Nothing has been heard since in reference to this fund. On Sept 9th I wrote to you in reference to the subject, requesting enquiry into the case. Receiving no reply, I presume that you have failed to obtain any information on the subject. It being two months since the money was sent, the brother of Emaline is anxious to know something about it. I respectfully ask that the Agent at Dalton be required to give immediate information whether he received this money, and if so why Emeline does not come on. If Mr. Selridge did not receive the money cannot some information in reference to the loss be obtained?

Very Respectfully
your Obt. Servant
