| No 14 | Robt Turner F vs Isham Gilliam, wht Buckingham Co Va | Claims, that in April, 1865, Complainant took up as astray, a certain Horse, abandoned by the U.S. Army, and that the defendant, subquently obtained possession, of said horse, and still retains, same repudiating entirely Complainants, claim to said property. | Oct 18th 1867 | That Thos Jefferson and not Robt Turner, is the party, who should have appeared as Complainant in this case, Jefferson's claim consists simply in the fact that he was standing, by or near the horse, when Gilliam came up and took possession of him. It is shown by the testimony of two white and one colored witness that Mr Gilliam the dfd't in this case was the original party who took up the said horse. | That the Complainant, has no right of possession, on the horse in question, and that the defd't under the operation of existing orders, has the right to retain said horse in his possession, until called for by proper authority.  Ordered That the defd't gives Bond in the sum of One hundred and fifty dollars, to the effect that he will retain in his possession and safely keep, said horse, until orders are given by proper authority, for the final disposition of same. |
