Elizabeth City County July 22nd 1867. At the request of Jno. F. Segar, I made the following survey beginning at a Large Black Gum Stump, corner of Segar and Sewell (Lee Emlin Physic and C.L. Coles' survey made by Hubbard in Nov 29th 1847) thence following the courses laid down by Hubbard after making allowance for the variation which is 1/2 degree Easterly N45 1/4 W 7 chs to Blk gum stump, Thence N48 1/2 W 4 chs 4 l to white oak stump, thence N 34 1/2 W 6 chs 6 l to Dogwood and stone, corner on Dr. Robt. Archer, now Segar, thence by said Segars line, S 45 W 3 chs 19 l to Red Oak, S 39 1/2 W 5 chs 28 l to Red Oak, S 36 1/4 W 3 chs 24 l to white oak stump, (thence refer to the survey of Wm Dix's land by Hubbard and allow 1/2 degree variation as before, or the survey of David Meads' by Hubbard and allow 2 1/4 degrees and run S 75 3/4 W 3 ch 22l to white gum stump, thence S 85 3/4 W 16 chs 13 l to Dead Pine stump, thence S 88 3/4 W 9chs 5 l to Dead White Oak, thence S 88 1/2 W 16 chs 5l to white oak stump on side of the Main Road, same course 1 chain to the corner, a stob now driven down even with the ground (this last course does not correspond with the others in variation) S 1/2 E 1 chain to Tall Black Gum, S 3/4 E 6 chs to Large Spreading White Oak stump, S 1 1/2 E 14 chs 10 l to Large White Oak stump, same course 5chs 35 l on Ditch, S 1 W 7 chs 14 l to white gum stump, south 4 chs 23 l to Hickory stump Hole, S 1 1/2 W 4 chs 13 l to Poplar stump Hole, S 4 E 7 chs to Pine, corner on Wills now Tabbs (Note, This course and distance both disagree with the notes it is 17 links shorter) thence by the Road instead of the notes of Meads') S 5 3/44 W 4chs 15 l ( a white oak stump 5 links on the left) same course 6 chs 39 l (a Pine stump 7 l on left) same course 1 ch 27 l to a Pine stump, same course 43 links (a Pine stump 4 links on the left) same course 9 chs 25l to a Pine Stump, said by Kelly and others to be the corner of Tabb's, thence N 40 E 3chs 30 l to Capt Ham's Corner stone (I would here remark that if the Pine Stump was the corner of Tabbs named in H's survey the stone has been moved as its bearing was N 23 E and now is N 40 E also the line from stone to Elm was 1 chainn short.) Thence by Hubbards' notes in his survey of Kyles' Archer and Drummond
