Norfolk, Feby 6th 1867

Gen O Brown
Asst. Comm'r -- Richmond
Dear Sir,

I hope that you will not deem it intrusive in my calling your attention to the Taylor Claim as adjusted by the award -- the settlement of which has been delayed by the mistake made as to the purport of the award which I presume has been now cleaned up by the Certificate of the Arbitrators.

Captain Austin and myself have no difference of opinion as to the effect of this award for the occupation of the farm since Sept 10th 1866. As he has just informed me that he has received orders to return the old checks I indulge the hope that new ones of like amount differing only in the apportionments between the two periods from Sept 10th 1865 to May 31 1866 and from the last date to Sept 10th 1866 will be sent down without further delay, or that if there be any further obstacle to this, which I do not suppose can exist, that I as Counsel for Mr. Taylor may be notified of it. I wish that you could make it convenient
